Installing an
in-line On 1-26-2009 a new and more detailed (better photos) tutorial for installing the TW-200 fuel filters was posted by "RedRover" (Sandor L.) in the TW-200 Forum and is presented below by permission: Installing an inline fuel filter is an easy, 5-10 minute job that can save you big hassles down the road. Keeping gunk out of your carb will avoid premature carb rebuilds and keep you from having plugged jets. Done! Note this helpful comment as well: For an even cleaner looking hose clamp use black zip ties. Just pull them tight with pliers, snip it flush and you are good to go. Lots cheaper and much lower failure rate than metal clamps. -Hank Now posted below are the original instructions - for old times sake: Check out the picture to see how to install a fuel filter on your Yamaha TW-200. Note that this information is graciously provided by qwazert_in_bc from the Yamaha TW-200 Yahoo Group These filters are slightly longer than they need to be, but you can CAREFULLY cut off the flange by going around it a few times with an X-Acto knife. I trim the flanges off the filters, so as to make the entire assembly as short as possible. Use a tight-fitting 1/4" ID fuel line (doesn't need to be the pressurized type because it is an UN-pressurized system). I also selected the most flexible fuel line I could find - available at my local Yamaha dealer. Cut hose lengths carefully to avoid any pinches or folds. It is important that the fuel line is NOT kinked or pinched in any way. You may have to experiment with various lengths. Add TY-RAPS or clamps if desired, but the fuel line I chose didn't need it.
